Show your Printed things made by the Masterclass Prusa's
on: July 13, 2011, 11:13

Has anyone got anything to show made by the Masterclass Prusa machines?

I have some pictures I'll try to pop up here later tonight.

I'm interested in what you have done with your machine, any upgrades or changes?

Some of the things that have happened to my Prusa last two weeks –

Added bearing stabilisers to the Z drive rods, this makes the sides of the built objects look really nice and smooth.

Added a fan to the electronics, removed the fan after a few prints, then added it back again, for me I think it helps keep the X,Y and extruder steppers more stable.

I had a hot-end failure just before I finished the sample White PLA plastic we were given (PTFE split at the top of the screw-in end).

I have also changed the hobbed bolt as it was slipping, no changes in spring tension or cleaning fixed it. Now it's changed, the machine is running and extruding perfectly.

I have tightened up many of the bolts a few times, it's amazing how some of them became loose after a few intensive prints, I actually had the lower Y stage heat-bed bolts fall out during a print, they are now Nylocks.

I have printed a few extruder sets for friends, they don't take long at 80mm/sec.

I have just printed the new Prusa Linear bearing Z stage housings so that's the next upgrade along with Greg's Linear bearing X stage that I'll print tonight.

I love the machine, it's such a great and minimal design. It's addictive, and I'm already planning my next machine build :) – I hope everyone else is getting along well with their machines?…

Looks like no one else has anything to show?

I posted an update of my 2 weeks of printing progress using the Bath Prusa Mendel on my blog here – http://richrap.blogspot.com/2011/07/1st-prusa-child-issues-with-abs.html

And here is a picture of the parts it printed (Child) for my next machine build –

And one of the upgrades – (an ABS Extruder) –

Hi,

I was having some trouble with occasional print steps going at full speed. The printer would make a crack noise and I'd generally skip a step or 2. The same gcode would print that bit fine later and skip somewhere else…

So, I finally took the plunge and decided that a Sprinter update was needed.

So far, not one high speed jump!

If anyone is still reading this forum and needs a Windows guide to compiling and installing Sprinter, I can send it over!

I'll try and post some pictures soon.

One broken by an attempt to jump :

And one being printed :

Hi Rich.

"I had a hot-end failure just before I finished the sample White PLA plastic we were given (PTFE split at the top of the screw-in end)."

Mail me your address, I'll replace the PTFE.

The whole idea of the shoulder is so this failure should not happen.
