Custom buttons not showing up in Pronterface
on: November 5, 2011, 05:49

I am using windows 7, I cant get pronterface to load and connect yet the custom buttons including "GET POS" do not load. OTherwise the pronterface layout looks identical to the screenshot in the commissioning instructions.

I assume you meant "I can get pronterface to load".

There are several useful posts in the forum covering the missing buttons issue. Try a forum search for "pronsolerc" and also "buttons". If none of the advice there helps, then please ask again.

Seems a Windows 7 problem, had same issue, went and used same code on 2 XP machines and all OK.

Got a new W7 machine yesterday so yet to try on that.

THis is what led me to the correct version on pronterface, however as my original question states, the custom buttons to the right of the display axis dont show up. Is this a windows 7 issue, as another poster states?

If so can somebody direct me to somewhere I can find help on actually running pronterface on Mac OSX. I have done a forum search and I have followed instructions to load pyserial and other dependencies for mac. I just dont know how to actually load pronterface on OSX.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running PrintRun on Windows 7 successfully. I don't know about MacOS.

The important file, containing the button definitions, the current manual feedrate values and the file location of the last model loaded, is called ".pronsolerc" . In my installation the .pronsolerc file is sitting in a folder called C:/Huxley/PrintRun, the same location as pronterface.py and the skeinforge folder (this should be the only one you have on your system).

Python needs write access to this file to keep updating it. In other locations, Windows may require Administrator permission to access the file, which is why I keep mine in the root.

It appears that we have the same file structure in the same directory (C:), yet still no custom buttons. Profiles for PLA and ABS are there. Are these buttons necessary or can commands be sent through the prompt?

Can you see the .pronsolerc file? Can you edit it?

Assuming you can see the feedrate values in the pronterface window, can you edit these values?

If you do this and then close pronterface, are the values preserved when you run it again?

I just pulled down the files on the new W7 machine, no problem. Would suggest you make sure that no other versions anywhere else on the machine.

I do see the the .pronsolerc and I am able edit. It also keeps the feedrate values that I change.

This is a screenshot of what I see
