LCD display

As the eMaker Huxley can work without a computer connected, it would be really cool if a small LCD display can be connected indicating for example:

- Number of printed layers

- Number of layers to print

- Estimated time to completion

- Temperature

- indication of used filament (in cm, m)

Not sure if RAMPS or Sanguinololu have enough "horsepower" or if this would be a separate board.

I have been thinking about that and was considering an Arduino based host controller that would read from an SD card, display a list of contents, choose the gcode file to print and send to the Huxley. But at the moment not sure if you just need to have serial communication to be able to communicate with the RepRap electronics.

The Controller board has breakout pins for TX/TX (serial) and SDA/SCL (I2C).

I'm sure it's not a big deal to spit some informations out over serial, or use serial input in the same way like the USB in.

I guess I2C will be used for the multicolor extension?

Wondering if there is already something on the serial connector, I will check this tonight :-)

A few people already have displays I think.

There is code in the marlin firmware to support this, although I have not tried it myself.
